Arlington, VA – Awarded in September of 2019 by the Government of Chile, the Humboldt Submarine Cable Feasibility Study was a joint effort between Telecommunications Management Group, Inc. (TMG) and WFN Strategies, LLC (WFN).

TMG and WFN have been selected by the Fondo de Infraestructura, S.A. of Chile to assist in identifying a strategic partner for the Humboldt Submarine Cable System currently being promoted. TMG and WFN previously concluded the “Economic, technical, and legal feasibility study of the Submarine Cable project: “Asia-South America Digital Gateway” for the Undersecretary of Telecommunications of Chile.

TMG’s President, Janet Hernandez, noted that “TMG is honored to play a role in enabling this critical new communications link between South America and the Asia-Pacific region. We are excited to continue to work with the Government of Chile and WFN Strategies to improve connectivity options on both sides of the Pacific through the Humboldt cable.”

“WFN Strategies is pleased and proud to have been involved in this groundbreaking project,” said Wayne Nielsen, Managing Director of WFN. “We look forward to our next steps with partner TMG on the Humboldt submarine cable.”

Humboldt will be approximately 15,000 Kms in length and is the first submarine cable system to connect South America and Asia. The transpacific cable will have landing points in Valparaiso, Easter Island and San Juan Fernandez, Chile; Auckland, New Zealand; and Sydney, Australia and significantly enhance telecommunications between South America and the Asia-Pacific region.
